At Michael Yee
Audio, we design and manufacture High End audio components. We
have two goals at MYA: to offer the highest of fidelity for a
reasonable cost and to help individuals enjoy the wonders of
music. "why we
listen"
We offer our components at "entry level" prices but
with the performance of the most expensive amplifiers. If our
designs do not perform to the highest audiophile standards, we do
not offer them to the market. Our truly unique technology allows
us to have a higher performance/price ratio.
We currently manufacture:
The PA-3, a 25W Class A Power Amplifier
and the:
The PFE-2, a phono preamplifier
In additon to the above Michael Yee Audio products, we manufacture several products under the Musical Surroundings label.
These include:
The Phonomena, a phono preamplifier with optional separate Phonomena Battery Supply (BPS)

The SuperNova, a phono preamplifier with separate SuperNova Power Supply

The Nova Phonomena, a phono preamplifier

The Michael Yee Audio Philosophy
Tonal
Imaging...
Our concept of "Tonal Imaging" is key to our success.
It enables us to objectively listen to systems and components (as
opposed to vague subjective listening). When we evaluate
component or systems, we primarily listen for characteristics of
the various images. These characteristics are: location, size,
focus, realism and stability. In this way, we listen to
"tonality" indirectly because if these characteristics
of the images are good, the tonality falls in place.
One of the most important results of the "Tonal
Imaging" concept is the development of harmonic integrity techniques. These techniques for
circuit design and evaluation have lead to amazing real world
results.
Our
History...
It all started in 1977 when Bob Shogi (a friend at Engineering
school) bet that I couldn't figure out why "tubes"
sounded "tubey" and "transistors" sounded
"transistory". Well, I took the bet quite seriously. It
was a couple of hard years before I had a break, I had designed
two solid state amplifiers that had identical "book
specs," but sounded completely different. But I knew the
difference and knew the difference was below the noise floor!
In the early eighties I designed special equipment for the "underground market". This led to my designing for various hi-fi companies and in 1990 the PFE-1 was released as a Michael Yee Audio product. MYA products have always been popular among "people in the know" because of great sound and extreme value.
The
Sound...
The sound from our amplifiers has the detail and bass of the best
transistor amplifiers along with much of the seductive character
of tube amplifiers, while the body and texture you hear are in an
unprecedented class.
